The Vision North Texas effort has garnered awards and a grant in recognition of our efforts in regional planning and awareness.

North Texas 2050 Receives Prestigious National Award

The American Planning Association (APA) has selected North Texas 2050 to receive a 2011 National Planning Excellence Award for Innovation in Sustaining Places. The APA awards program is highly competitive; this year there are 12 awards in all categories selected from several hundred submissions received. This award recognizes Vision North Texas’ hard work and dedication to improving the quality of life for North Texas residents and the long-term sustainability of this fast-growing region.

North Texas 2050 Wins National APA Award

2010 Midwest Section Texas APA Award Winners

The Midwest Section Texas APA has announced their award winners for 2010. Vision North Texas is among the winners. Awards were presented to the recipients at their annual banquet on Friday January 14th. The annual awards program recognized outstanding planning efforts, innovative projects, best practices and planning leadership, advocacy and education. A panel of volunteers reviewed the entries submitted by private and public sector planners, students, educators and organziations. The entries were evaluated based on originality, quality, implementation, public participation and the role of planners, among other category-specific criteria.

Community Action Grant

We also received a Community Action Grant for 2006 from National ULI, which will help support our Phase 2 work.

Greater Dallas Planning Council

Vision North Texas was recognized by the Greater Dallas Planning Council with a Dream/Study Award. This award was presented at a reception on Thursday, December 8th, 2005. Pictured (L-R) Mike Eastland, Barry Knight, Karen Walz, Don Gatzke and John Walsh.

The American Institute of Architects - Fort Worth Chapter
